Crystal Mud

Ever felt like a Friday moan? I beg forgiveness, but, for me, it’s not one of those Fridays where I’m jumping up and down in anticipation of a weekend of debauchary, a firkin of the finest and watching the boys over in the Fatherland taking on ‘our oldest ally’.
I’ve just had one of those days when nothing goes right. From getting up this morning and having no Colgate left, to ironing my favourite T-shirt and finding the washing machine had condemed the ‘writing’ down the plughole into the dark world of the British sewage system.
But that’s not really it, what’s really got me today is trying to understand the wording in some legal documents. Have the days of campaigning gone, or do we now just forget about legal gargon because it’s all in small print?
I dunno, the Plain English Campaign probably did (or is still doing) some good work and, as I’m not an expert, I don’t want to knock them too much, but after having a quick gander at their website, I get the ever so slight feeling it’s now all about Corporate’s paying a quite a few grand to put a trademarked symbol on their documents to look good.
But, maybe on another day, with more toothpaste and wearing a non gardening T-shirt I would look at things in a different light.
