We Three Stings?

As I’ve already said I’m quite a fan of horse racing, so I’ve been taking a bit of interest in the corruption case.
One thing I find interesting is that even though Darren Williams and Fergal Lynch have lost their riding licenses the BHB are deciding next week whether the Professional Riders Insurance Scheme (PRIS) will compensate them for loss of earnings.
Now two things jump out at me here.
The first is, will the BHB’s Insurers payout for something not related to injury or illness? I doubt it very much, meaning that the funds will have to come directly out of the BHB reserves - meaning less money for all the other things the BHB has to fund.
And the second thing is - if the two riders are found guilty will they have to pay back the compensation? If they don’t, there could be a ridiculous situation whereby ultimately the punters they have defrauded have paid their ‘wages’ in the run up to the case.
An before I finish on this subject - if anyone is found guilty when the case goes to trial - will the Betfair Customer’s they defrauded be compensated?
